Parish of Choppington

A very good evening was had by all who attended the Burns Night at Holy Family Stakeford in January 2018. A local band gave a wonderful evening of entertainment - even for those who did not want to dance!! Over 60 people attended and was so popular that it was decided to hold the event again next year.

The food was prepared by a local Chef and many members of the Church provided support with the setting up and the dreaded clearing away.

Breakfast Club 2018 and Mission 2018

As part of our mission in 2018 we opened a Breakfast Club on a Saturday morning fortnightly. This provided a free breakfast for the people of Stakeford from 09:30 until 11:30 in the morning at the Holy Family Church Stakeford. The menu varied from month to month on so that sometimes a continental breakfast would be available rather than a fry-up!! This was supported by members of the Church who spent time over a hot stove as orders were received. The mission event cumulated with a visit form senior clergy to the North East from the Northern Province. The Church Warden and the Bishop Pete (The Bishop of Sheffield) can be seen aside enjoying a pint and a game of pool. A service was held at Holy Family where the morning service was conducted by visiting Bishop Grahame (Former Bishop of Carlisle).
